SeWaPak Wastewater Treatment Plant
In the tradition of the now well known Aquapak, comes the SeWaPak, a mobile containerized activated sludge sewage treatment plant.
The final effluent can be used for irrigation by passing it through a gravel filter and a tank and feed pump system. The entire system ( Activated sludge reactor, Lamella clarifier, intermediate storage tank, Hurricane aspirating aerator, final effluent pump, sterilization and gravel filter.) Is erected inside a standard ISO steel container.
The effluent meets the General standards for sewage final effluent in South Africa. (Available on request.) The system is available in two sizes: 6m (20 ft.) capable of 25 to 30 m3/day. 12 m (40 ft.) capable of 50 to 60 m3/day.
The units are odourless and pose no environmental hazard. Operating principle. The container is placed on a level site with a plinth of the correct size. A sewage pump, pumps screened sewage into the plant. In the activated sludge compartment, the sewage is aerated extensively. It then passes through a Lamella clarifier and a proportion of the sludge is recycled back into the aerobic reactor. The clarified water is chlorinated and stored in an intermediate tank. A pump then automatically delivers the final effluent to the gravel filter, where final filtration takes place. The final effluent can be discharged to a river or used for irrigation. The process is completely automated.
Materials of construction. The container is made of standard ISO container materials, and the compartments are made of Glass Reinforced Polyester and Polypropylene.
